Principal's Message

Dear Northcott Prairie School Community,

At Northcott Prairie School, we are proud to serve a vibrant and diverse community of learners from Kindergarten through Grade 9. Our school is a place where students grow not only in their academic learning, but also in character, curiosity, and citizenship.

Quality education is a partnership between dedicated teachers, engaged students, and involved parents—anchored in a culture of high expectations. Together, we create the conditions for every learner to thrive.

While reading, writing, and mathematics are foundational to student success, we know that our students’ learning needs extend far beyond the classroom content. From their early years to adolescence, they are developing their identities, relationships, and understanding of the world around them. It is our responsibility—and our privilege—to guide and support them through every stage of that journey.

We believe in the transformative power of relationships. Whether between students and teachers, among peers, or between home and school, strong relationships are the cornerstone of meaningful learning. At every level, students remain at the center of our decisions and actions.

Our teaching is carefully designed to foster critical thinking, strong literacy and numeracy, creativity, and problem-solving. We want our students to leave us not only well-prepared academically, but also deeply curious, collaborative, and capable of leading with integrity. As students grow, we empower them to take increasing ownership of their learning and contributions to our school community.

Just as important as academic growth is character development. We take pride in helping students become kind, caring, and compassionate individuals who demonstrate empathy, resilience, and responsibility. Grounded in our school mascot—the Bison—we model and teach our school-wide expectations through Head, Heart, and Hooves:

  • Head – showing respect for self, others, and learning
  • Heart – showing care and compassion in all we do
  • Hooves – acting in safe and responsible ways

These values help create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment where everyone belongs.

We are excited to continue building a strong partnership with families, staff, and our wider community. Together, we support our students in becoming lifelong learners, ethical citizens, and confident leaders.

Yours in education,

Jordan Flower, Jocelyn Littlefair, and Suzanne Martin
